About
Why we built Calcurate
Life across borders means prices in more than one currency. A hotel quoted in euros, a train ticket in francs, lunch in pounds. Or rent in one currency, a salary in another and subscriptions in a third. Converting each amount one at a time and adding the results by hand is slow and easy to get wrong.
Calcurate treats currency as part of the maths. Tag each amount, press equals, and get one answer in the currency you think in, with every conversion shown. We wanted it to feel good too, so the keypad is modelled on a mechanical keyboard, down to real switch recordings, swappable keycap sets and a glowing vacuum-fluorescent display.

Our principles
- Show the working. Answers come with a breakdown of each conversion, and the display shows where the rates came from.
- Work everywhere. The calculator keeps working with no signal, and tells you when it is using offline rates.
- Respect privacy. No account, and your settings stay on your device.
- Make it a pleasure. A tool you use daily should feel good in the hand.
